V6s do great! just this morning i blew away a 04-08 4.6L ext cab 4x4 from 90-100mph and also 0-80 and i spun tire thru all of 1st gear and partially into 2nd until i got onto a different type of pavement and it just chirped and took off. now im hungry for a 5.4L lol. already beat 2 5.3L chevy silvys and they have more hp than the 5.4L except the 09+ of course but i would race one of them too.

i had an 04 f150 heritage V6 manual. had 3.08 and if memory serves me correctly, it was around 2100 at 70mph. with a cold air intake i got a combined driving average of 22.5mpg and it was probably close to 25mpg highway. 3.08s are not bad at all. for example my 04 reg cab longbed apparently weighed 3897 according to registration and did a 0-60 of 9.58 seconds with a CAI. i now have an 08 reg cab shortbed V6 manual with 3.55LS and get about 9.2 0-60 with an apparent 4364Lbs(registration) truck and 100mph comes about 5 seconds quicker in my 08. it has the exact cold air intake off my 04. and my average combined mpgs are about 19.5mpg, highway is maybe 22 but i doubt it and 70mph is around 2300 or 2400rpms. i know 100mph in 4th gear is 4krpms in the 08. do 100 more than 70 i guess

Seriously though, what were you doing in a culvert in the first place?

Wasnt the 5.3 you raced weighed down? I race my buddys 5.3 4 door with an intake and exhaust and got my *** handed to me and I run 0-60 quite faster than you.

You might beat a 04-08 F150 4x4 5.4, I have beaten a few.

I got roughly 22mpg at 65-68 on a trip to Tenn., according to my father. I'd say more like 19-20 though. At 70 I'm running about 1,600-1,800rpm, if memory serves me right.

both were 4x4 but both were in 2wd with the manual 4x4 shifter on the floor. one was reg cab longbed, the other was ext cab shortbed. i work with them both and next day i asked if they were really trying, they both said yes. the ext cab had only 8k miles the reg cab was in the 20k area. but no extra weight. also the ext cab had a K&N drop in. reg cab i never checked but i dont think anything was added.

actually the one i blew away on the highway i didnt check if it was a 5.4 or not. i just assumed it was a 4.6 from how easily i passed it and pulled away from it. plus i know edmunds did a track test of all the new trucks in 08 and the 5.4 ford had the slowest. so if i beat a 5.3 chevy, i should be able to get a 5.4 and in 09 they bumped it up by only 10hp so i dont see it being too much faster. dont know if torque was bumped up tho.

the only 0-60 rating i saw for a 4.2L was 10.2 seconds. and i figure i get about 9.2 maybe. so with just the intake its possibly i dropped 1 second but i know that is unlikely. either way the rating didnt say any specs like ext cab or 3.08 or 3.55 or anything like that. kinda wish they would test them ALL.
