2001 f 150 anti theft?

I had an electrical fault while jumping one of my old cars and discovered that i had a bad battery connection after getting the connections the truck starts but runs rough and the transmission is in limp in mode. Ive heard that some vehicles have a anti theft stage that disables them in this manner. Ive also been told that leaving it disconnected form the battery for a peroid of time may rectify this problem. Anyone have any further info?

No, the antitheft prevents the truck from even starting. Go get the computer scanned for codes.
