that looks familiar. I'm having major issues and P0401 code w/ misfire - saw the same thing when I ripped mine apart. It's funny how this is such a common issue. I did the tune up first, then I cleaned out the gunk. I checked my EGR and it works fine (applied vacuum and it wanted to die when idling). All of my vacuum hoses have been replaced so there's no deterioration of vacuum lines. Car ran fine for about 20 mins then same issue again . My DPFE is getting replaced now - I'll post up what happens

Replacing the DPFE sensor resolved my EGR issue but my misfire still exists - I knew it would though . I bought the truck with MSD coilpacks and MSD wires so I'm going to try and save/keep them . Worst case scenario, I'll get all Motorcraft parts. BTW, I had an aluminum sensor and replaced it with the updated black plastic sensor.
