2008 5.4 Heads unavailable

My truck Has been at the dearlership waiting on a set of heads for over six weeks, the dealer tells me that the parts are out of stock everywhere and that they have no idea when they will be able to get the parts. This seems odd to me that they are unable to get pats forthe best selling truck in north america. Anyone know anything about this apparent shortage of heads for these trucks? Are there a lot of trucks having a similar problem as mine, and this is why they have no stock? How would you guys go about dealing with this mess? This is being fixed under warranty by the way, the truck only has 90,000 kms on it.

Do you know what model heads you have? Early 2008 had the old style plugs. In mid-October 2008, Ford started using a revised head with conventional style spark plugs.

Not necessarily - vin "V" is the flex fuel engine, and that's the 8th character, not the 5th.

As I said, the 5th LETTER is a "V". Thanks for the input so far but, we are off topic already. Any Idea why It could be taking so long to get this part? Thanks

its not a part in production currently so it could be there just out. I'd contact ford have them put you in contact with the company rep in you area and have him give you answers. I imagine lots of guys are changing over when there heads have to come off in the pre 08 3v engine. Might just be waiting for more to come in..

Talked to Ford yesterday, apparently the supplier is out of stock, the phrase they used was "no stock America." They tell me that my truck is in the system as out of service, emergency. This apparently gives me priority over some other customers. But really, its now been 8 weeks and still they have no idea when the parts will arrive. In my opinion this is very poor service on fords part, I mean the truck is still under warranty and they can't fix it in a timely fashion.... I could understand if this thing was ten + years old but, a 2008... give me a break.. Someone along the line has really dropped the ball here. Only owned a ford for 8 weeks and I already have a very bad taste in my mouth. If they weren’t basically rebuilding the engine I would sell this thing on principal alone.

It's not a Ford problem, it's a vendor problem.
