Twisted the driveshaft completely in half tonight!

LOL Truck/tractor pull. New 37x13.50x20 Toyo Open Country M/T's

4x4 Low side in second gear. Was pulling good till this happened!

I really did expect to break something. This is about as good as it gets.

I just figured it would be a U joint before the actual drive shaft pretzeled! LOL

That's impressive. I've never seen that before. I've only seen u-joints broken

this has me second guessing entering into a tractor pull

so did you drive home in 4x4? or did you just leave the truck there?

Did it do any damage to the underside of the truck? I would imagine that a big metal rod spinning at several thousand rpms would do some pretty good damage.

Very nice something you can put on the wall of the shop ha. I am surprised that broke first and not something else.

This is the second time I've heard of this happening...but the first time was on a mean custom built diesel not a significanly smaller gasser.

Read the mods in his sig. If those are even up to date.

I did, I find it impressive that he is joining a monster diesel in the twisted shaft hall of fame with a gas engine.

I towed it home. Only about 3 miles but I was worried about the tranny fluid leaking out of the back where the driveshaft should be, so I played it safe and towed it.

I'd say you may be ok if you don't have huge BRAND NEW meats on like I did. I was getting stupid amounts of traction.

I probably would have been ok if I would have kept the worn out 38s on.

As far as I can see it caused no other damage. I have not looked at it too close. Didn't have time today.
