Newly lifted truck, noticing some tranny issues.

Hey guys I just lifted my truck 6" and put 35s on. And I also have a edge CTS programmer with the trans only tune selected... And I just recently started noticing when I change out of park it doesn't sound smooth and almost makes a bang kind of... if that makes sense... And when ever I accelerate from a stand still the truck kind of shimmys before it gets going... Like it doesn't want to shift smoothly. Any ideas on what this could be? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Possibly a defective tune on the programmer? I put a bully dog programmer on my old truck and it ruined the transmission in 2 days. It shifted weird like yours does. Have you regeared since the lift and 35s?

Also, have you used the programmer to correct the speedometer/odometer for your oversize tires?

Regearing after oversize tires will get some of your performance and gas mileage back, and will reduce the load on the transmission.

Check the driveline angle too, the lift will change the angularity and can cause the shimmy when you start off.......been there, done that already.

4.56 gears with your 35s would get you a lot of performance back. And I get really good city mileage with mine

Ask the shop that did the lift - and expect to pay about $800 for gears and labor.

With a 6 speed transmission, regearing isn't as necessary as it was with the old 4 speed. 1st gear is pretty low.

oh wow... It feels like when ever I accelerate from an idle the transmission has trouble shifting out of that first gear.... Thats it.... Is that the transmission or the gears... it feels like kind of a skip or slip or something.... Idk enough about cars to describe it any better than that lol
