Cv axles

Hey guys, what CV Axles are you running? I've been through about 5 sets over the life of my truck (it's a 98), but the boots keep dry-rotting before the axle wears out?! Is there something better than the regular old Advance or AZ specials? The Ford place wants $450 a piece for them!!!

ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Seems to me you can get remans at most parts stores with a lifetime warranty.

Yeah, you can, but the thing is I don't want to have to keep tearing the front-end down every year to put CV's on it. I was just looking for some that have really good boots on them. That's my only problem. The boots keep wearing out and slinging grease everywhere.

I went through this before as well, sort of. In the end I found it was worth the money to just shell out for the ford axles from the get go. Nothing better than new ford motorcraft cv axles. But some have had success with the reman stuff, just not me but I wheel my truck hard.

If you want the Ford axles, you can get them from rockauto.com a lot cheaper than your dealer. You could also check pricing with Tasca and/or Tousley.

my truck is still rocking the original cv axles and I am super hard on them. I can twist a brand new moog idler arm in 7 seconds but haven't broke a cv axle yet. The combo to twist a moog idler arm is 4 hi, full steering lock, and WOT
