ok so i bought my 1997 f150 with 152,000 miles on the ticker. I do the usual checkups on the motor every time you drive it when you buy a used high miled vehicle. i noticed it had burnt about a quart of oil every 1000 miles so i had topped it off every 1000 until i changed it. Then i put castrol high mile 5w-30 oil in it and it has only dropped to using a quart every 2000 miles. First off is this normal on the high miled 4.6, or does anybody have any idea how much longer i have until she may go? The truck now has 158,xxx miles on it. any info would be greatly appreciated!

 

Thats not too bad . I've known of new models using more than that . Hell, that '97
will run forever,just keep it checked and maintained.

 

alright! now i just need to find a pumpkin for the thing that doesn't have much play and i will be set!!!
