Question Wheel Hop Kills Diffs.?

I read that wheel hop kills diffs. Just wondered because I floored it in reverse up a hill about 6 months ago, and the damned thing shook VERY VIOLENTLY!!! I thought I backed over a ricer, literally!!! Thanks.

Unhappy

Maybe if you do it all the time. I'm sure it's not doing it any good even once however.

Mine would do it all the time on wet pavement (going forward. never tried in reverse). I got some progressive helper springs for hauling, but I also don't hop anymore on wet pavement. Added bonus. No rear end "Clunk" either.

definitely guys . . . wheel hop is a killer of differentials . . think about what is going on in that differential under those circumstances . . . this is also true when you might be off-roading and get into some soft sand . . .

I have a friend who broke an axle while the differential was hopping. He got on it on a wet road going up a hill. There was the hopping, the POW and alot of grinding.

Be real careful of wheel hop.
