world's worst quote

Just thought I'd share something funny. I got quoted 3850.00 dollars for a gear swap in my 2004 f150. It's 4 wheel drive but come on. That is completely ridiculous and something I would have expected from a dealership. Correct me if I'm wrong, but 1600 should be about right huh? The shop was in the Kansas City area. I don't want to ruin anyones reputation so I'll keep the name on the down low. Am I over reacting or is that as bad as I think?

Haha mossy I emailed the shop so I couldn't tell you. What's funny is I was referred to them by a VERY good local 4x4 shop. I was asking them about gearing but they said they don't do differential work and gave me this shops email. I didn't even respond to their quote or I would have lost my head.

Yeah, my total was ~$1700 as well. Bought front, rears and master install kits from Diffsonly.com and done by a local shop. I went with Yukons...

I thought the quote I got today was bad, they want $3000. Still outrageous!

That is what I was quoted here in Calgary. Most of the shops here won't touch gears and the ones that do assume I have a money tree in the backyard. That is why I won't ever do the gears.
