Hi all,

I have a 97 f250 (f150 body style) It is 4x4.The truck only has 38500 miles on it. I can't seem to get the 4x4 to engage. In fact the floor shift will not move (well it wiggles about 1/4 to 1/2 inch) and seems as thought the shifter is stuck. There is no grinding noise and no signs of something being wrong. I have tried being in N when shifting as well as park, no luck. I have not looked at it and it runs/drives fine in 2-wheel. Could the shift linkage be bent somehow or simply rusted together? Anything I should look out for?

 

Probably just needs lubed up with wd-40 or liquid wrench. Things have a tendacy to get rusted up down there. May take a while of spraying and moving to get it loosened up.
