Post Rear End Shudder

I've noticed lately that when I turn sharply, the rear end shudders a bit. Any ideas? It just started in the last few weeks...

Cool

THIS MIGHT NOT BE A BAD THING. I DO NOT KNOW HOW LONG YOU HAVE HAD YOUR TRUCK, BUT FORD HAS A LIMITED SLIP REAREND THAT IF MAKING SHARP TURNS BOTH REAR WHEELS TRY TURNING TOGETHER MAKING A SHUDDER.CHECK AND SEE IF THIS IS THE CASE.

It's a 99 with approx 20k miles on it. Yes, I have the limited slip, but why is it doing it now? Shouldn't it have been doing that all along?

Another thing worth mentioning. Hurricane Floyd came through here a few weeks ago, and we had LOTS of flooding. I went through a lot of water, some up to my nerf bars. I asked my Ford service department if I needed to have anything checked/etc after all the water, but they said it should be fine unless I had let it sit in deep water. (Which I didn't...) Sound right to you?

You may have water in the rear end, you better check. You should not have water in there unless the water came above your venthose on the rear axle.

Question

If you said that you had water up to your nerf bars, then there is a good chance that your vent hose was submerged allowing water to get into the axle.

You must of missed my post on this topic called Scrubbing Limited Slip Differential.
I have exactly the same problem. The funny thing is, I did get about an ounce of water in my diff threw the vent from offroading, but it wasn't until I changed my fluid that it started to scrub around corners. My post explains it in more detail.

Angry

I thought it was the engine, then the trans went bad (rear seal) then I thought it was a Ujoint, then the rear end... Finally after no help from the dealer!!! I take the drive shaft to a driveline shop. They say the driveline on my SuperCab is too long for an aluminum drive. It turns into an aluminum jump rope at 2500 rpm and vibrates like crazy. There is no way to balance it. They recommend cutting it and puttina a carrier bearing in the middle for $500. What a poor design on Ford's part...
