4.10 gear swap question

I have seen many threads regarding a 4.10 gear ratio swap. I have decided to do one in my 2002 supercrew 4.6 2wd along with an eaton trutrac.

For just the gear swap, on stock tires, what all will be needed to do the swap and allow for my speedo and odometer to read correctly? If there's a way to calibrate without spending big bucks on a tuner then I'm all for it!

Cheapest DIY solution is the Hypertech speedometer calibrator. It's the same tuner as the Max Energy tuner, but limited to only alter tire size and axle ratio. I have the Max Energy and use it solely for the speedometer correction and a slight bump in trans firmness.

Other option is taking it to the dealer. Many years ago I was able to play with a WDS (which has been replaced with newer hardware) and it did allow for changes to the axle ratio.

So if you're going to spend money, might as well spend it where you can reprogram for possible changes in the future.

And if you're gonna get an X4, you might as well get it from 5Star or MPT with custom tunes for $400 . . .

Lol yeah might as well. I can get it dyno tuned locally too

On a side note, I just scored a set (5) of method race wheels for 378 bucks, brand new no miles. Only thing is they aren't the right lug pattern so ima sell them and what not...maybe I'll get the tuner with that money
