I know I know the title sounds a little funny, but how can I tell if its 8.8, 9.75, etc........And its not by looking at the tag on my pants.(I see that one coming so I thought I would say it myself)

 

Your application comes with an 8.8" rear, the 9.75" comes in the 5.4 F-150.

i looked at the ford racing catalog for 2001 and it has one for 28-29 bucks is the any way in hell that is right. ive seen guys on here saying they have paid $50-150. i dont really need anything more than another bright piece on my truck. is that right

 

Some of the covers are just chromed factory style units that perform exactly like the factory cover. Some units do more; like: increase rear end oil capacity for cooler/cleaner fluid, use aluminum with or without fins for increased cooling, or add convenience with drain/fill/check plugs. Some people don't care how they function or want to detail them constantly, so, they just paint the factory cover with high temperature paint.
