Question price on 4.56's?

I was wondering if anyone knew how much and where I can order 4.56 gears for my 98. It has a 5.4, I think the rear end is a 9.75...would the front gears be the same? also is this a very difficult install job? any pointers on installing the front gears? thanks

I got my 4.56's from Randy's Ring and Pinion. They ran me $180. That includes the gears, differential gasket, and an install kit with all new Timken bearings and shims. This was just for the rear diff as mine is 2wd. Those guys are great, they will be able to answer all your questions. As far as installation it is extremely difficult. If you have never done one find someone who has done several to show you. I know many experianced mechanics that won't touch them. I wouldn't even trust the dealer to do it. Find a good speed shop, the installation will run you about $400. per axle. And yes, your front and rear diffs should be the same size.

Not the same

Your front and rear diffs are not the same. If you have the 5.4 then you probably have the 9.75 rear end but you will definetly have a reverse rotation 8.8 up front. All 4wd F150's have this in the front since it does not carry the load of the back. You can also try west coast differentials. That's where I got mine from. Great service and shipped for free. www.differentials.com I paid 635 for front, rear, and install kits with timken bearings.

Really? I didn't realize they used 2 different sized diffs. I thought i remember seeing 8.8's all around on some vehicles. These were all older vehicles though.
