I ordered an XLT with the 3.55 rear end. To make a long story short, I ended up purchasing a Lariat instead. The truck has the 5.4L w/auto transmission.

The sticker on the window says the truck has 3.31 gears at NO Charge. I went to both FordDirect.com and KBB to configure these trucks for pricing and both sites said that 3.31 gears are NOT available with the 5.4L and auto xmission. The standard gearing is 3.55.

Is it possible that the window sticker is wrong? I didn't check the metal tag on the differential cover or the door ID sticker. I'm supposed to pick up the truck tomorrow but before I do, I'd like to get to the bottom of this.

Can anyone here offer any explanations?

I don't know if things have changed since I bought my 2000 but it came stock with 3.31's. I had to buy the optional 3.55's when I ordered the truck.

BTW, my truck is a 5.4 automatic.

The window sticker is generally correct. You can double check by looking at your axle code on your driver's side door jamb or the actual ratio on your axle cover tag.
