Trying to sort out a rattling on acceleration and braking that comes up through the steering wheel. Under the truck last night I grabbed hold of the driveshaft near the transfer case and checked for play. Indeed it did have about 1/16 inch of play in the universal joint at the front end...could this be causing the rattle?

 

Yep, if you have play in the u-joints they will make a light clunk when you get on and off the gas.
