Red face What sealant for rear Diff.

Three monyhs or so I changed both differentials and transfer case fluids. I just discovered the rear is leaking, I used Permatex Ultra Black and waited at least 1.5 hours before refilling. I had checked several times after and saw no fluid until recently.
Considering the cost of the Synthetic 75W140 I would really like this next change to last a while.
I searched for a gasket before last change but could not locate one for the twelve bolt rear
3.55LS.
As always any help will be greatly appreciated!

Use some Loctite gasket maker. I think the number is 517. Hands down, best stuff on the market. Or better yet, get yourself a Mag-Hytec differential cover and you won't have to worry about any sealant. www.mag-hytec.com And while your at it do yourself a favor and switch that runny 75w140 to some Lubrication Engineers 607 gear lube. www.le-inc.com Again, hands down, best stuff on the market. But, only if you want your differentials to last longer.

If you get a chance, try the Loctite instead.

oops- mental typo!
anyway I made a few calls about roll gasket material, I was going to scan my pan and laser cut my own at work but got to talking and found I may have a heavy duty rear axle and found a part listed for the F-250 12 bolt. I Think I'll check that for a fit before cutting one.
Thanks again!

Thumbs up

I've had mag-hytec bookmarked since I first changed fluid just havn't freed up the money -yet, The tranny pan looks sweet too, but once again the money. However I will try the leaktite for now and look into the gear lube.
Thanks for the input!
