Post Has anyone converted to posi rear end?

Hey peoples...

I have the full slip rear end and I want to convert to posi/limited slip. The performance shop I deal with found me a part made by Auburn I believe. The part description from what I could gather is a ford motorsport 8.8 traction lock... has anyone heard of this or done something simular. I only have 2 wheel drive and I know I'll save myself problems in the snow if I convert to an ls diff.

I installed an Auburn unit in my F-150. The only thing needed out of the ordinary was an oven to heat the ring gear, to make it easier to install. Other than that, it was a very simple swap. I DID add two bottles of Ford's Friction Modifier, which I think your dealer should have in stock. Hope this helps.

Do you guy's know if there is such a part for an 250 SD? I have traction problems when I pull my boat. Do you think it will help?

Dusky,

There should be a part available, your Ford dealer will have it available, but I found my local performance shop was about $100 cheaper ($600 at p.shop as compared to $700 from Ford). It's all based on your rear end, I have an 8.8", 31 spline axle combo. You should be able to get the rear end info from stickers on the truck.

ps. those are cdn prices.

Corey,
National Driveline in Chicago has the best prices I have found on drive train parts. You can find their ad in most hot rod magazines. For example, a Mustang style 8.8 Auburn (28 spline axles instead of trucks 31) costs about $200.
