Question ???? Non limited slip ????

=\

I have a 97 F150 2x4 and not more than 2 weeks ago I did a burnout... now I'm not tryin to brag or anything but this is where my problem comes in. I did the burnout with both tires (Limited slip right?) but I was just reading an article on here that gave the rear axle codes and my axle code in my door say's it's 18... and the code that I got off of here say's that it's 3.08 gears with no limited slip... is this possible?

Qub3d,

It is possible under certain conditions that both wheels will spin without a limited slip differential. I used to own a 1972 Datsun 1200 that would lay down 11 yards of rubber from both wheels with an open diff. Raise both rear wheels and spin one of them. If the other wheel turns in the same direction you have a limited slip. If it turns in the opposite direction you have an open differential.

"It is possible under certain conditions that both wheels will spin without a limited slip differential." I've done several actually and all times both tire's have spun... I used to have an 85 Olds cutlass and I used to do a burnout with only tire... that wasn't limited slip =\ Could the codes be wrong?
