Limited Slip Kits...
I really appreciate what a lot of folks here have been able to tell me about parts and what to expect out of them. i am hoping y'all can help me with something I want to get done over the next several months; upgrade to a limited slip rear end. With that in mind, can you help me with the following questions? I have a '97 2WD with a manual tranny, 4.6L, and the 3.55 rear whose gears I'd rather keep (just great for my purposes).
1. Do you recommend Allison, PowerTrax, or Detroit parts for the kit? I'd like a kit that isn't to harsh for everyday driving, but that is great in rain, wet and loose surfaces, and on hills. I don't know that a full "Detroit Locker" is for me and my tires, if you know what I mean - we just use the vehicle for outdoor fun (not offroad mudding, but lots of state parks, lakes, and the like, regardless of how wet it is).
2. Can you recommend a shop in the Houston area that likes this kind of work?
3. How many hours of labor would you expect the job to be, assuming the differential is in great shape and there are no such surprises?
4. Any other key questions I should be asking?
Thanks for your help!
