I think I lost my rear differential?
the rear wheels will not roll at all even in neutral has this happened to anyone else? did they say what caused it ?

any help is great

Any chance your parking brake is stuck on?

 

are you sure its the r ear differential? pull the cover off and look for damage. if not, then maybe it could be the tranny? i dont know, just throwing out some ideas for you to check, good luck!

 

he he acadianbob , yep that is what the recker guy asked me also , nope the e-brake was off but it does act just like it is on , the dealer didn't get a chance to crack it open today so I guess will here something tomorrow , maybe it is the transmission? donate54 .It has me stumped and bummed out this truck is a 2001 with 24,000 miles! geeesh I have always had good luck with my previous fords why is my new baby having the trouble??? FRUSTRAITING

At least yours was at 24K.

Mine took a dump on the on-ramp over the weekend at 42K (33 months in service).

I'm convinced it went into two gears -- as the thing groaned and moaned and nosedived like the parking brake was just applied.

Before I could say WTF, it made an awful noise and went into a false neutral.

3 & 4 gone.

Going to the torture-pit on Thursday.
