Actually Roadrage, most of my driving is highway, on a normal day I drive 60 miles. About 5 of that is city. On the highways I drive about 60-65 on one, and 70-75 on the other(traffic permitting), keep in mind this is also pulling these Ozark Hills. Like I said I have the 4.6, I have had a six cyl. before and I know this would be well out of there range for highway rpm. But I did not have the 4.2. I had the straight six which would only wind up to about 3500 and that was it! I have drove the 4.2s and I know they are way higher revving than the 4.9. But I don't think my setup would be appropriate for a 4.2.

Just a story I thought I might pass along. My truck feels alot faster than before with my 3.08's, but not fast enough. The other day I pulled up to a Infiniti G35(whatever that is?). We were cruisin' at about 90. I could tell he wanted to race, so I planted my foot and watched my speedo bury itself way below 100, about that time the G35 passed my like i was setting still. I estimate he was hitting at least 125. Those are really fast, I cant wait for spring to roll around. I want to see what it runs now with my mods. I know you guys don't care but it was so fun I had to tell someone!

Silver&Blue,

Actually, your story, details, and comparisons are EXACTLY what many of us like to read. I have a 99' supercab (flareside) 4.6, auto trans. with 3.55 rearend. I do not have limited slip.

I am going through the process of trying to figure out how to change to a limited slip 9.75 with either 3.73 or 4.10 rear gears the cheapest way possible

i would imagin 4:10 would work well with automatic but mine has 5 speed with 4.2 the only way to realy excelerate fast would to shift through all the gears as fast as you can. so 3:73 would be better in my case.

I didn't realize you had a 5 sp, I understand more now. I think the 3.73 would be perfect for your setup.
