Timing chain replaced - Pics - Guess what side adjuster was bad ?

2002 F150 Lariat 4.6 2wd 75k miles all city driving, stop and go. Original owner.

Job is completed and running great. Engine is just so quiet now.
I did a bit of of a marathon session of many repairs and just replaced some older parts while I was there.

Cloyes Timing Chain 9 0387shx

Melling hi volume oil pump m176hv

Here a pic of the timing cover just as it was removed.
I did measure the adjusters to confirm and you can see the slack in the chain on the one side.
With the adjuster removed I kind of tapped it a bit and it sprang out or open.

Wow, that is low mileage for the timing chain/slack adjusters to be worn out isn't it?

I thought it was the 3 Valve engines that had this problem and not our 2 valve engines??

That adjuster was compressed compared to the other side. Guess the seal went and was bypassing oil over the and down the cover for awhile.

The truck did allot of idling compared to the mileage.

The noise kind of creeped up slowly over time till I decided to get to work.

I was happy when I pulled the cover and it confirmed the adjuster was leaking and the chain was slack.

Mainly so, yes. More finicky about oil viscosity, part of the deal, as oil pressure is a player in 3V valves.
