What is.......SCrew

I am wondering what the max mounting depth of a sub is in a Screw (behind the rear seats) without having to modify the seats.

Do you mean under the rear seat? The mounting depth all depends on the box. Most pre-fab boxes, made to fit under the rear seat of a SCREW have a mounting depth around 5 1/2 inches.

Ascii -

When I built my box, I made the dimensions as follows (all outside measurements, with carpet in place):

Bottom of box is 8 7/8" deep.

Top of box is 3 7/8" deep.

Height of box is 12 7/8".

Angles are cut at 22* for the front.

The subs are mounted into the front of the box so they are flush.

The length can be adjusted by your taste, sub volume requirements, etc.

I made the box with 1 piece of 1/2" x 4' x 8' MDF with a good bit left over. The design is 2 closed chambers for 2 - 10" MB Quart DVC's. The back board is one big piece from side to side. I also modified the driver's side to allow for the seat latch...

With the seats in the upright position, they are EXACTLY lined up with the rear of the seats, kinda' like this: //. There is probably 1/16" distance from the front of the box and the rear of the seat.

See the pics in my gallery of the box in various stages of completion. Sorry, I have not had a chance to snap a pic of the finished product. I hope to do so this weekend while I finish up various other truck projects, including a long overdue wash and wax job!!

Good luck and post what you come up with...
