6x8 Door Speakers

Are Infinity Kappa 682.7cf good speakers? They have an RMS of 2-100, has woven glass fiber cone with hi-roll rubber surround, rotating UniPivot M.M.D. dome tweeter, computer-optimized outboard crossover with tweeter level control, frequency response: 40-25,000 Hz, sensitivity: 94 dB, i dont know if that is good or not because i know nothing about speakers but i am just putting what is says about them from crutchfield. Please tell me the pro's and con's about these speakers. Also what amp should i get to power these? i was think the new power acoustik

Everyone here has nothing but good to say about Intinity, Id agree they are alright.

That is their top of the line co-axial speaker too, so I would say they are pretty good.
Id go for it if you think you want them.

How much money you have for an amp? PA amps are alright, I never was really a can of them though.

Good is a relative thing, meaning what one person thinks is good is dependent on his experience, and will be very different from another person's idea of what good is. If all you had ever heard were stock speakers you would think those Infinitys were the greatest thing since sliced bread. Someone involved deeply in sound quality competitions would not. As far as "drop in" speakers, they are quite good. And a nice 50 watt amp would work wonders for them.

Yes, Yes & Yes!!! I've had very good luck with both the Infinity Reference 5x7's and the Kappa's 5x7's/6x8's. I had the Kappa's in my '01 Lincoln LS with a 4 x 85 watt amp and they handled the power very well, sounded crisp and the bass was tight! I'm going to get these same speakers for my new F-150.....watch out for Crutchfield - they have excellent service - but are one of the highest priced sites out there. I purchsed my last set from www. etronics .com and paid only about 60% of what I would have paid at CR.

Are you installing these in an '04/'05 F-150? I ask just to verify that both the front door and rear door speakers are a "true" 6x8 speakers?

thx

ADDITIONAL FOLLOW UP: I ordered the Kappa's through www.millionbuy.com, they have them in stock for immediate shipping and got them for $99.00/pr vs. Crutchfield at $149.00/pr. You will need to go to Crutchfield for the Ford speaker harness(s) if you don't have them already...part # 12071048 (Ford 1998 & up) They come two to a package so you will need 2 packages if you are instally 4 speakers. Also, if you have not ordered from millionby b4, and your order exceeds $300.00, they will send you an e-mail asking you to call in and verify your order - just be aware so you don't let the e-mail sit a couple of days and delay your order!

That statement is quite accurate. If all you want is a better than stock set-up than the infinity line will do you wonders...It will not win any awards but if you want it to be much crisper than now you will love it.

As I stated they were in my 97' and they blew me away at the time for how vastly superior to stock they were. Now I'm much more jaded. I might be so bold as to reference you to increasing to a 6" component set for the doors. As this does require minor modification to the doors it could be not what your looking for but will allow you much better choices as to what you can do to make it sound even further away from stock and closer to custom without completely breaking the bank or destroying the stock look of the interior. Just remember you have choices.

That is a good reply. The extent someone is willing to go to in order achieve improvements in sound quality depends on many things, some of which are; how important SQ is to the user. We're all different in that regard. (Some would rather spend big bucks on performance mods or tires and wheels, etc.); budget; and their patience and work ethic. Let's face it, some people are too lazy to go that extra bit that it takes. Others are inexperienced, which is fine because we all were there at one time. But, if they have work ethic, they can learn and get good results. There are all kinds of users. A person has to figure out what category they are in and plan accordingly. There's no magic to this car audio thing, just good planning and good sense AND knowing what you want and then using all the equipment properly. Even if it is "bargain" equipment. There's nothing wrong with having a cheap Pioneer 3-way from WalMart IF the user is happy with it. There's also nothing wrong with doing a quality, well thought out installation with $800 compionents and $1000 amps IF that's what the user wants.

You would be surprised what you can win competitions with.

A guy won IASCA finals with stock VW speakers. He just had them imaged pretty much perfect.

I cant remember his name or any details. Ill try to find it on yahoo or something.

Ok I guess I was really off on the details.

Jason Ewing, stock speakers, stock location, amped, time aligned and had a crossover on them.

Heres a link, 3rd paragraph.
http://www.carsound.com/articles/pub...icle_263.shtml

It isnt really the kind of article I was looking for but it works.

And when you think about, he didnt really do anything special. Anyone can put an amp on their stock speakers, a lot of newer atermarket HU's have time alighnment, and you can get crossovers almost anywhere. Now Im definatley not saying your going to get the same results, this guy knows his *****, but youd be surprised what can be accomplished.
