Anyone get wires through one of these

I'm trying to run wires from the front doors into the cab. I have one of these "newer" rubber boot wire connector thingy that houses the wires from the doors to the outer cab wall. Has anyone been succesful at getting wires through there and if not, do you have any pics of where your drilled (both sides) to get wires through? I have also posted in several other postings such as speakers and PFM but thought I'd get more response with a new thread. thanks in advance

I've experienced a similar looking plug in the mopar vehicles a while back. In this situation I "strongly" encouraged the customer that the stock wiring was good for aftermarket speakers(and in most cases it is - even with an amp), but in those cases which it was mandatory to add additional wiring I'd get out the 'big 'ol hole punch and hammer.

Punch two holes, remove burrs, add grommets, loom and tape your new wiring or use some other sort of protecting sleeve. It got pretty labor intensive... Not much else you can really do...

I believe it is a connector lock. if i open it and give it a little tug, i can see it coming loose from the cab but the door gets in the way for me to completely remove the whole connector. another member just posted and said that there is enough room to take it off the door. He will take some pics tomorrow and will post. My guess is that it will have pins on it that connect into the outer cab door. kinda strange - if ford/bodyshop ever needed to replace the inner connector, how the heck do they get in between the kick panel and the hull.

And the rear...Lot O' Room for wires

I have convinced myself that the only routes to take on the front is to either use the stock wires to the doors or somehow drill a hole on the cab side and use a grommet and wire loom.

I just went out and was just about to post the same pics that you just posted. the connector is pretty easy to take on and off. it looks pretty easy to get the wires into the connector but i cant figure out how to put pins on the other end (the outer cab wall). Were you able to get to the cab side? Seems like the cab side connector is between the hull. If you figure it out, please let me know. Also, if you do end up drilling, please let me know where you drilled. It doesn't look like there are any good spots to drill.

thanks

I thought about the pin route as well, but on the driver's side there is not really any available space for additional pins as it is full with the 4 window switches and the mirrors and what not. There is alot of room behind the cab side, so when (if) I decide to drill, I will let you know. Might stop by a local installer tomorrow to get some input on what they would recommend.

On the cab side, there are 4 slots on the bottom as well as some in the middle that are not being used. I was able to pull a metal hanger through one of the holes but was not able to get my wires through as the hole is just to small. I think if i try a couple more times, i will be able to get 1 16ga wire through each hole. However, it is still very difficult. If there is a way to remove that "cap" and make those 4 holes into 1 large hole, i think it will provide enough room for any size cables. Here are some pics i took... sorry for the poor quality...lighting was bad. i will take more pics when i try again.

i used a mirror in order to see the inside of the connector. That white line you see here is my metal hanger coming from inside the cab.

This pic is the inside of the cab. again - very hard to see

if you figure out how to work with the cab connector, let me know. also, i am interested in hearing what your installer has to say. I did see a place that we can drill into as well. Inside the cab in the upper wall, there is a rubber grommet that allows you to access the hull. it is labeled with "L" - this is the driver side. I have not looked at the passenger side. Ford is making this very difficult. I just want the regular rubber boot
