Need help with front speakers.

Hey everyone,

Just purchased a pair of the Infinity Reference Series speakers.

This is going to be my first attempt at doing an audio install, so I figured speakers would be a good start because there isn't to much wiring involved.

So heres my situation: I popped off the grills over my 05 STX front speakers, and removed the stock ones. I noticed that the stock speakers have an adapter that the Infinity speakers do not.

I'm guessing I am going to have to cut that adapter off and solder the 2 wires on to the connections on the speakers?

Also, The drivers side has a red and light blue wire, and the passenger side has a green and white wire... how can I tell which wire to connect to which connection?

Thanks again in advance.

Just get a couple of spade connectors and cut the adapters off. Way easier than soldering.

Also, if you look at the adapter, the wire that is on the side where it clips to the connector (or outside) is the positive wire.

Good luck

Awesome, thanks for the replies.

Made a quick trip over to wal-mart and picked up some connectors (i don't know if they're called spade or not).

Install went smoothly! Everything sounds great from these Reference speakers even on a mostly stock unit.

Quick question: Should I have the ball piece (I'm guessin' the tweeter), pointed up or down? It is adjustable.

Yes that would be the tweeter. I was told to aim the tweeter at the headrest on the opp. side. ie the drivers door to the pass headrest and viceversa.

If you're gonna do something - don't go 1/2 assed. Stop by you're local Circuit City has an install shop - they're $11 for a pair.

Also, the negative lead is smaller than the positive lead so "generic" crip terminals won't work.

Yeah,
I got mine at circuit city for $10 a pair. Made things alot easier and now I dont have to worry about them when I sell the truck. Just unplug the harnesses and plug back in the stockers.

Good luck,
