ok i have never really been interested in getting a system in my truck because i never could justify spending a load of money for something like that, but now i have a source that gets me really GREAT discounts on everything except head units, the brands are mainly Kicker, MTX, and Bazooka, i also have a good discount on Boston Acoustics but im not sure what items i have them on

I have the truck that is in my sig(03 F-150 Supercrew) so i want to know what would be recommended, any suggestions are welcome

Thank You,
Mr Squirrel

Boston Acoustics would be my first choice, then Kicker. I wouldnt even look at the MTX or Bazooka stuff.

Determine a budget for yourself, then get the best line of gear that you can afford.

ok well like what size sub should i go, i want something that will hit hard when i want it to but i mainly want something that sounds good and i can still have a crisp sound but not like those ghetto boys whit their bumper always rattling....if you know what i mean

does anybody know what would be a good Kicker series of subs and speakers to go with?

im going to be honest...i know very little about sound systems in cars

if you choose the kicker subs, i would go with either the CVR series or the CVT series. the CVT is new this year and is really cool because 1) it has really shallow mounting depth of like 4.5" and 2) it has no pole vent, which is good for a shallow box.

Then you really dont want a Kicker sub. Stick with Boston on your speakers and you should be very happy Check out the G5 series from Boston if you can swing the price, nice subs. If not, even the G2's are pretty nice sounding subs.

Kicker does make some pretty nice amps though, I wouldnt hesitate to use them if I was able to get a kickazz discount on them.

Are you planning on building you own sub box, or buying one??? If your looking to buy one, check this place out. They have a few different kinds of boxes, and most of them will hold anywhere from an 8" sub to a pair of 12s.http://www.supercrewsound.com/shop/cat/60.htm

If you looking mainly for sound quality and not out to make anyone go "damn thats loud" then a pair of 10's or a single 12 would do well. The two 10's have a little more cone advantange, so they would most likely be a little louder than a single 12 if it matters at all.
Its hard to say "get this and you will be happy" since everyones opinions are different, but I would say look into a pair of 10's.
Any sized sub will sound good if it in the right box, but a pair of 10's should be able to get 'decently' loud, but not ghetto stoplight loud

i wanted a 12 at first. i went with a supercrewsound box and a 10w3 jl sub. i liquid nailed all the seems inside the box before i put in the sub. i can tell you that it hits plenty hard for me and the sound is awsome. iwent with the s series alpine door speakersin front-seperates 5x7. and i went with boston acoustic in the rear fill. it sounds perfectly clear and i get plenty of compliments on it. i am using a pheonix gold 5 channel amp.the hardest part was running new speaker wires in to the doors as my truck had the wonderful grey plugs. what a pita.

I like that.... ghetto stoplight loud...

I had a gal in a g30 coupe this evening at a light with some rap so loud, the trunk was bulging and state plate rattling. so I give her a little over 1200W of Metallica, Enter Sandman..... she promptly tuned it down and rolled her windows up..... LOL

pair of 10" or a single 12"... I would pass on a single 10"... I'm running a single 12" @ 450W...

brings up a good point....i do not like rap!.....i love rock and heavy metal, if that helps then please tell me what i should look for, but basically all rap is good for is a sub system

i like Sevendust and they have some pretty deep bass in their music, will that sound good with a 10, or should i go 12, or dual

i do not want overkill though, Lyrics are a big part of my music and i want to be able to understand them

a good single 12" will handle rock and heavy metal. also keep in mind that most 12" will go a little lower than 10" can...but in order for most of us to give you some ideas, we need to know what your front stage power levels will compise of...

I run 275W a ch on front stage, 125W a ch on bandpassed midbass rear and 450W sub ch.... this is a very good balance for me and even at that, My HU sub control has a setting of -6 to +6, I set gains on sub ch at +6, but I rarely go above +1 or +2 settings to get a good blend on sub.....
