Replacing just speakers

I have and 07 FX4 6 disc mp3 with Audiophile sub is it worth it to just replace the oem speakers with after market speakers? I'm keeping everything else stock the hu and sub. There really has to be a big difference from oem to after market for me to get these using the stock hu. If I do change what would you recommend (speakers) and what size do I need to get ? Thanks

and is the factory/audiophile wiring to the stock speakers sufficient or will I need to run new wires?

The stock wiring will be fine! Unlike the Mach systems in the mustangs which use 2ohm speakers our trucks have 4ohms just make sure the speakers you by 4ohms speakers. Your not going to get more volume out of them but you will get a cleaner richer more full sound sound! For the best results I would run an amp you can even fit it behind the factory radio! Also ditch that factory headunit. Factory headunits have a very poor DSP to cut out engine noise etc from the factory... This causes poor sound Quality.
I run an Alpine headunit in my truck very rich signal and all sorts of great features full speed I-pod conect. etc... Oh and speaker size 5x7's front and rear... Ford standard pretty much across the board! If you do change the speakers with out adding an amp go with Alpine Type S 5x7's great sound!! If you add an amp go with Alpine Type R 5x7's even better sound! Or you could change to Seperates up front then make a plate or buy one to fit the 5x7 hole and run 6.5's seperates up front!!

Dynamat also works wonders for cleaning up the sound and keeping out nay unwanted sound...
Even with stock speakers Dynamat... Flat out HELPS

Really it all depends on what your trying to get out of your truck audio wise...

Well that's my long short anwser... LOl.

Thanks for the help I know a new hu would be better but I am going to keep the stock unit for now I like the way it looks and I have sirius radio. One more thing how much of a difference will it make adding an amp and can I turn it off to load new tunes to my truck with my Xcal2.

No Problem Man...

Adding an amp will give you more Volume and threw the crossovers in the amp it will help clean up some of that factory DSP problem!
When adding an amp you will need to run new speaker wires...
16 or 18 gage speaker wire will be fine!

Turn off the amp... Sure just need to run a breaker in your power line.
Switch it off... And presto!! The amps off...
When running your power wire for your amp DON'T stick it through the gap in the door or anything!! There is a gromit above your brake punch through that! Fires and shorts are what you'll get the other way...
BAD Very Very BAD... Lastly out your fuse no more then 18" from your battery. For a 75watt x 4 amp a 60amp fuse will do!!

Rock on my friend Let us know how it comes out
