I wanted to use the fox acoustics box and put two of them under my back seat, and that box has 6 1/8" mounting depth with the optional ring, but then the sub would hit the floor at full excursion. The top of the sub will actually sit about 5/8" above the plane of the bottom of the box, leaving you with only 3/8" of room for excursion. The JLw3V3 has 14mm of excursion, which equals .551" inches, which is more than 1/8" of an inch greater than the clearance you would have.

Looks like there is no way out of it without a seat lift or a very meticulously built box. However, only about a 1/2" seat lift would be required and then you could shim up the box...which is what I am thinking about doing
the fox box is upfiring, so with the grills on the speaks it would be fine bcause the seat has some give to it.

That box is not upfiring, it is downfiring. Those are metal plates on top to give extra clearance for speaker magnets. That box is also not divided. It is one box that both subs share.

Perhaps you need to look closer. That box is definitely down-firing. Those things on top are simply made to have a deeper mounting depth. They are down-firing, I promise you.

your right. guess i didnt understand what they were saying. anyhow wouldnt that be the same opposite then, since it has that, wouldnt the speaker sit lower in,or higher upside down.

well in that case what is another decent quality subwoofer that would without doubt fit under my seat, because I don't want to go through the hassle of installing a seat lift. Also, what is your guys opinion on one more expensive subwoofer in the same price range as the w3, vs. two cheaper ones? Also, does anybody have experience with this sub, because it will definitly fit in the supercrewsounds box. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500SWS1...111&tab=review

i have the premier shallow s1001s4. they sound great, run by a 500/1. these are not the best, if there is something that sounds better it must be freakn insane then. no one else on here has them that i know of. couple of others on here have frowned at me for these, i have to respectfully say they are mistaken about this years model, they havnt heard them. if u can see if your local shop can play them for you so u can see what i am saying. i wasnt a believer until i heard them. the memphis, the w1, the kenwood, none sounded as good. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...001S2%7CS4,

They will fit in the box with a 1/4" ring spacer, which leaves you with 1" of ground clearance. Now think about how high the sub sits above that plane where the 6 1/8" mounting depth is measured from (basically the lip of the sup that protrudes from the box). Most subs are between 1/2" to 5/8" of an inch, and as I said earlier, 14MM is more than half an inch, so there is almost now way. We went through this a few threads ago, and I was on the OP of this post's side in that thread and had it explained to me, and it does make sense.

its a very easy fix if it does. just open it and reground the rca to the hu chassis problem solved takes maybe 2 min

i see ur point, they do advertise they will fit. prolly best to call and ask them. it does look like a good box. it would be the shznit to throw 2 jlw3 in the truck under the seat!

I checked out those pioneer premiers and I like them alot but I decided to lower my budget a little on this setup so I am now thinking of this..... This sub http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500SWS1....html.....this amp....http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500MRPM..............the supercrewsounds single 10" box, and I am not sure about the head unit, I want something that won't look goofy in my truck but I don't want to spend alot of money. I am lookin at this one http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113MP44...wAll=Y&tp=5684 and also this one, but based on the opinions here, I don't know if Pioneer is good or bad or somewhere in between...http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130P410...wAll=Y&tp=5684 I like the look of this one better.

That is a 4ohm DVC sub and rated at 300 watts rms. It is most commonly wired into a 2ohm load. That amp will put out 500 watts into a 2ohm load. That amp will overpower that sub. That is of course at 14.4 volts.

for the hu, the premier is better, its sub output is 4 volts, the subs i dislike, the premiers are less expensive, i have em they sound good. http://www.dealercostcaraudio.com/pi...-sw1001s4.aspx
the amp looks decent.
also it is a good thing to have an amp that puts out more than your subs can handle, that way the gain is low, u dont overwork the amp. its called headroom i know looks dont mean anything, but the premier sub is built like a tank
