Am I the only one here who's ever replaced a sub in an Expedition???

Am I really the only person on the board to ever take the sub out of an Expedition?!?!?!

Can ANYONE suggest a replacement?

Can ANYONE suggest how to get the original speaker out - If I pull any harder, the sheetmetal on the rear quarterpanel is going to cave in!

Thanks...

I was thinking maybe the woofer has some kind of adhesive between it and the sheetmetal holding it in place. Try taking a small putty knife and go around the woofer with it and try to break it free. If you can't get a putty knife in there, try something smaller. The reason I think it may be adhesive, (black tar looking goo.) is because I've seen that stuff used as sound deadener. And they might have put "the black goo" around your woofer at the factory to keep the rattles and resonances down. So it's worth a try. Just my 2 cents.

I found this thread while looking for answers on how to install a sub in a 98 gator. I bought a factory subwoofer without an amp off e-bay and am trying to hook it up with my kenwood sub mono amp. The stereo package that I got in my gator had the grill in the panel and the wire harness for the amp but I don't get any sound out. I think there is no signal coming from the head unit amp to the rear connection since my truck came with no woofer. Has anyone tried to upgrade there system using the factory connections in the rear to a aftermarket sub??

Sorry to ramble on...back to answering a question in this thread. The factory sub speaker has a bolt from behind directly into the magnet. You must remove the whole side panel so you can get to the three bolts holding the speaker box to the truck. Not an easy trick, be careful to not break plastic mounts, I think I did pretty good at only loosing one mount...Smithj
