With a vortech s-trim on my 02 5.4 f-150 will i need to have vortech tune my eec ...in the new kits it comes with it but im looking at a used kit that doesent have it...can i just get a custom dyno tune?

 

A custom tune is generally the preferred way to optimize your any forced induction on these trucks. If you go that route you may as well get the most power and put a larger fuel pump/injectors/MAF in there as well.

 

yes you will need a tune. with mine if the weather was between 80 and 90 deg, no problem other than that temp and it pinged. in my case vortech provided me with a chip even after i got the kit used. i had to remove the computer and send it to them. probably not the best performace tune but it is safe.

 

Thanks i will be up grading the fuel pump not sure how big also will be getting 42#ers and lightning maf..and probly get it dyno tuned around here instead of sending my eec to vortech...does that sound like a good idea?I will only run like 10 psi max ...

 

with the 42#'s and 90mm Maf you wont be able to drive it to your dyno session..the factory PCM wont be able to control the injectors and MAF and she wont run

 

So whats the best idea?
