The Jackshaft arrangement does not hurt performance. The forward facing inlet has been around on the GM Magnacharger stuff for years with no problems. By moving the inlet to the front, the inlet restriction is reduced and allows the SC to work more efficiently.
I've heard Ed Badillo (the tuner for the Ford Racing/Whipple kit) talk about the Powerworks/Magnacharger kits and he is impressed with the power they are able to get out of the Eaton 112.

Do you know anyone who has achieved these numbers?
So, it's quite possible at stock boost levels to see those figures from a Whipple. I DID get a custom tune (see below note also), so perhaps I'm disqualified from the "out of the box" group. Being at over 5000 ft. altitude, I felt it necessary to dial things in a bit more precisely.
My speed limiter is no longer set to stock values, BTW.
Edited to add: My only other mods are the HO MAF from Whipple (90mm, I believe) and a Gibson Swept Side exhaust.
