Looks like I am headed down the Monster Box route.

Anyone that has rebuilt their trans have you gone with a higher stall speed. From what I have heard, the stock TC stall speed is 1000 RPM on the 5.4L. Seems WAY too low...

Thanks
The PI converter seems to be the most popular one.
I run a 2600 stall in my truck..Love it!!!!

The MB stands up pretty well to power. I am running one in my truck. the MB also comes with a converter, that is built to taste.

If you plane on putting alot of power through it, above 500 then go with lentech. there tranny is indestructible.

I am over the 500 mark so my monster box is not going to last long. My next tranny will be from lentech.

ah nice info here. doin the exact same thing. i got 185k on my 4r70w, shift kitted with the steel accumulators. i 100% expect to ruin the tranny quickly, but i just hope thats AFTER i get my fairlane running lol.

so what i understand is it handles the power much more reliably with a hardened intermediate shaft, new clutchs, higher stall and better cooling? that sounds way too easy.... what did i miss?

That was my build and @ 400rwhp it's doing fine. Sounds like the MB has a few more "things" done to it. For one and the most obvious is an external oil line is added to get fluid to a certain part of the tranny better/faster/cooler soemthing.. haha. I thought the MB would beable to handle more than 500rwhp???

Finding somebody who has his act together (for real, not just his opinion) in rebuilding these transmissions to stand the gaff can be tricky.

It's hard to beat the Factory Tech Monster Box in that if they should fail in the first two years, the warranty not only covers the replacement transmission but the shop labor to R&R it also.

Contact me and I'll tell you more.

try livin in podunk idaho, you think its hard to find anyone with an idea about motors or trans where you are? try lookin up here where people only seem to know the SBC's and 60-80 era... every engine builder i've talked to has yet to touch a 4.6 or 5.4L... and to ask about the trans, your gonna get a lot of "huh?" crap

thats why i come here for info, i'll have to do it myself, and its so much easier when i find a tried and true build here from you guys. did i mention i dont have that kind of money to spend on a new trans? lol

it will handle more than 500, I am going to see just how much more. Dont get me wrong. The monster box is a killer tranny and the warranty is sweet and second to none.

Can the Monster Box bolt right on in place of the newer 4R75E tranny? I don't know how long my stock transmission will handle my "habit"...

There is a 4R75 version of the Monster Box available for the same money as the 4R70W.

Someday we will find out just how good they are, Rafa has one (4R75) in his truck.

Phil - Does the 2,600 stall seem at all doggy when you accelerate in the mid rpm range? Can you describe what you love about it?

If someone is looking for a bolt in replacement, this is a deal. I picked this up in another thread, and a member was very happy with the deal-http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=290093335767

MADFERRARIST, unfortunately the "Total Domination" torque converter from Factory Tech it's showing it's weakness on Rafa's truck.
The Factory Tech TC can not support the instant torque of his engine.
And he's making less than 600RWHP.

Was my mistake not believing in you, i defended FactoryTech since the begining and you always said their torque converter was not strong enough for S/C engines.
I apologize BROTHERDAVE.

no apology needed, i am sorry for the guy that spent the $$$ and now has problems.
unfortunatley my experience with modified cars has always had its black clouds. what company is good today might be chit tommorrow. I think all to often small companies (i own one) are built around a small group of people and when 1 or 2 people have personal problem , health problem or simply move on, the product suffers.

I don't understand, you said that your Monsterbox was holding 800rwhp without any problems and now you say that they are not good for over 500RWHP ?? You also said that for more than 500RWHP Lentech will be better than Monster Box !!
