XCAL 100 Octane Tune

How much could my timing be advanced with running 100 octane fuel on a 100 octane tune with my XCAL2? Would I need to just datalogg my knock count with my XCAL2 to make sure I'm running safe?

Thanks,

Bixbystx

Hi.

Some noob questions... so bear with me.

You are running an S/C with knock sensors active? Is that advisable, as would the blower mechanical noise not be erroneously detected as knock and cause the timing to be pulled?

Second, if the sensors are turned off int he tune, will logging that PID still be possible?

Third, isn't detonation = death in a boosted application? If so, would cranking up the timing to the knock threshold be ill-advised? Logging or no?

IMHO, would it not be better & safer to just invest in a complete 100 octane tune? I think your tuning dealer would know best what timing to use for safety. I would not guess myself.

Someone please enlighten poor old Bubba

Cheers

I plan on getting a 100 octane tune for my XCAL2 to make sure everything is setup correctly. Is anyone else in here running a 100 octane tune?

Thanks,

Gotcha

For a moment there, I thought you were planning on bumping up the advance yourself.

Thanks.

I use 100 oct every now and then you dont have to change anything to use it. and I'm sure you can be tuned to use it all the time if you like to spend $7+ a gal

FX4 Matt........do you see much of a performance gain when you run the 100 octane thru your truck? I was thinking about changing my 91 street tune from Troyer to a 100 Octane tune. I figure I can probably pick up another 20 rear wheel horse or so. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
