Blown Engine

I have a 2003 F150 with a 4.6 V8 and a M90 supercharger with several other mods. I was driving home from church today and I gave it a little gas and it started shaking and smoke was coming out from everywhere. The oil pressure went down to nothing. I know I'm looking at a ton of money to get my truck bad and running. What would be my best options? I know I need to have someone look at it first to see exactly what the damage is.

Thanks,

Bixbystx

its really hard to say without knowing the extent of the damage! but its going to probably come down to is it logical to pay X amount of money to fix my truck when i could pay X amount to buy a new truck. me personally i normally choose to fix my truck but i am attached to my truck!

if the wire harness is not an issue between the 4.6 and 5.4, I would get one of these and have someone go through it. Maybe someone will join in with the answer.

5.4 Lightning engine

Man that sucks. How much boost are....were you running? How many miles? Good tune? I'm just curious, I think we have the same truck.

I'm back and forth over a lightning swap or just a built 5.4 procharged. I think I will go with a 5.4 instead of a 4.6 WHEN the time comes.

Tough luck man

how much damage? did you by any chance just lose a headgasket?

if it did blow look at the bright side:

at least you can build a forged engine now, I deffinantly recomend the 5.4 but you can easily build a 5.0/5.1 "stroker" out of your 4.6 that will run real well and add a set of stage 2 or 3 heads with a good set of cams and you'd be really happy. also then you'd be "re-storing" your truck to what it looked like before and you could leave your 4.6 stuff on the engine and have a real sleeper

I wouldn't worry too much until you find out the damage. If it was just a gasket, that is easier to fix. But I alway like to use this opportunity to build a stonger, faster, and better motor.

I'm not sure which way to go with getting a new motor. Do I try to find one at a salvage yard or what? I was also looking at a 5.0 stroker engine that I believe will work fine as a replacment. Does anyone know if this is true or not?

as long as it's a 4.6 based block you will be fine, you'll need a tune though
