What people need to keep in mind though, is that 8psi from a GT25 is going to be far less stress on a motor than 8psi from a GT42. You can't shoot for a universal PSI... every form of forced induction will have different effects at a given boost level (one might flow eleventeen times more air at 8psi than another one).

Be concerned with the health of the motor, and getting it tuned well. Do a compression test on the motor, and look not only for healthy numbers, but consistancy from one cylinder to the next. If you are within 10 or so points on every clyinder, you are good. Also do a leak-down test, make sure your fuel system is up to snuff, and have plenty of money set aside to get it tuned and rebuilt if things go south. The 4.9L is a stout motor, and begs for a nice medium sized single turbo. A simple log style manifold would make that baby spool up quick style.
