Vortech Intercooler Install

Thought I'd share a few pics of something a little different. Just finished up installing an intercooler on my Vortech. Also installed a 2.5" Reichard Racing pulley and turning up the boost. Should make around 12psi... Also installed an extra pulley to allow for more belt wrap and less slip. Just waiting on my tunes now....hopefully any day it will be up and running.

Kinda hard to show since it's so tight behind the bumper, here's the best I had. Almost forgot, since the pics, I've also added an 11" Spal low profile fan to help full in air from the areas the bumper blocks.

Nice job, very clean installation. That will help a lot with the nasty IATs. With some tuning you will be able to take full advantage of the boost. Good luck.

What's the source of piping/intercooler etc? Is that a Vortech kit or procharger?

It wasn't too bad, cut the bracket, flipped it over and cut the end of the hard lines to shorten them enough to get it to fit up. It is mounted hanging straight down now under the crossbrace rather than in front of it as it was before.

not too bad, only part is the engine might run hot being the intercooler is blocking alot of the radiator now. thats why they keep the intercooler in the bumper so not to block flow to the radiator.

Hopefully it won't, I have two of the big flex-a-lite fans set to come on pretty early and a small pull fan behind the intercooler so there is a good bit of air flowing.

It's probably not as close as it looks in the photos, they are away from it and where they are located it can't really hit them but your right, it's definitely something I know I'm going to have to keep an eye on, there are several places I will keep checking to make sure nothing is rubbing or hitting.

Cool cooler

Derrick can you please give me the dimensions of the aftercooler the ebay listing end long ago do you by chance have the part #off the box? So with this big *** cooler you should have very little droop in psi from the blower right? and this will allow for for cooler aits ? looks very clean good job

Here you go....I'm almost 100% positive this is the one, I know it's a type X Godspeed. Don't pay this for it, I know mine came off ebay for only $150 or so??? May have been $180 with shipping or something.

It came from these people.

If I was going to do it again, I'd probably use one like this so that you can use the silicone elbows on the bottom and turn them the way you wanted. Will give you more adjustability when you run your tubes.
