dont race the Mazda, you'll lose...

I had one for a full month for a rental and believe me, that car can fly. For an I4, it easily beat a V6 mustang and i finished nose to nose with a Firebird. it has a lot of low-end torque, but the only time it will be beat is when it shifts into 4th, its 4th gear is a dog. With TRC off it will easily spin thoe fronts, but when i raced it a few times i kept TRC on and it took off!

it does nothing but keep it from shifting into overdrive. I keep my od off when cruising town, which the speed limit is 40mph, i dont want it shifting in and out all the time, plug it makes it louder and more intimidating! lol

Putting power through the OD is bad...period. It's the weakest link the the transmission. Art Carr and Lentech AOD's built for serious power have valve bodies that need a separate switch to activate OD...essentially making it a 3-speed for racing. On the street it probably isn't as much an issue but if you take it to the track it will be. I prefer to be conscious of the fact and turn my OD off anytime I think I'm going floor it. Better safe than sorry.

I don't think I have ever been in a situation where My truck would have even thought of shifting into OD @ WOT. I don't even shift out of 2nd until 80mph (130KPH). I wonder how far 3rd would go???

Red line in 3rd 1:1 with 31 inch tires is about 140 mph, 226 kph.
