VP Racing Gas with 98 Octane Tune

I bought some of the 109 unleaded VP racing fuel a few days ago and I used it to mix with my 91 unleaded fuel we have in Oklahoma. I run a 98 octane tune and this VP gas really seems to be awesome. I have done the same with the Sunoco 104 fuel and it doesn't seem as if I get near the power results. I do know the VP gas is alot higher than the Sunoco is. Does anyone know why this is the case?

That is probably true. I know the compression ratio on a 2003 F150 with a 4.6 is pretty low.

Yes, I run 9 pounds of boost on my M90 Eaton Supercharger. The VP fuel sure responds much better on my truck than the Sunoco fuel. The VP fuel is so darn expensive for some reason. I hear that VP just strickly deals with racing fuels as where Sunoco is a more diverse company.

The higher octane in the fuel allows for more timing in the tune, so if you don't tune for it there is no benefit.

I was told once that the higher the octane the slower it burns. That being the case if you don't start it burning soon enough it will actually loose power.

I have a 98 octane tune that Mike Troyer made for me about a year ago. I love running that tune but I don't too often just due to the crazy prices of racing fuels. I have noticed the Sunoco 104 price has dropped in the area in which I live. That race fuel plus the extra timing for the 98 tune makes my truck very fun to drive. I love it.

I did 3 passes with my truck over the weekend and it looks like my air/fuel is around 11.6.
I know that is very safe. Would anyone consider that to be a little too rich for my supercharged truck or just fine because being a tad rich is sure better than being lean. I know all about being lean in the amount of about $5K.

I have a DSS pro mod engine with forged internals and I'm thinking about getting a 104 tune from Troyer Performance. Does anyone see any problems with having a 104 tune? I only drive my truck for performance now since I have a car I use for a daily driver. I love my 98 tune and I'm sure I would love a 104 tune even more. Do you think Troyer Performance would write me a 104 octane tune?

Thanks,
