Did you look into what I have running, its crooked here in this picture, didn't notice it until I had posted it on my post about porting the magna, but she's straight now, its all 4 inch tubing and the element is alot bigger than the K&N that came stock with our setup.

Its cool and all, but i think it will just suck up hot air....

from my understanding, the power comes from having your intercooler cool/cold... Superchargers are like a vacum, and it will suck and pull air when and where ever it can.

Agreed. Get that filter insulated from engine and hood heat. Or at least relocate it into the fender well. On my NI Roush setup it came with the thin aluminum shell from the factory. I added pipe insulation (the aluminum backed sticky insulation) all around the airbox and noticed an immediate improvement. You will definitely notice performance loss on hot days and runs at the track.

I have been watching iat's on my Scangauge over the last week with a ' heat wave ' here...... the high ambient temps were in the high 80's to the mid 90's. With my Centri pulling air from under the hood I saw temps at 10*-12* above ambient sitting at stop lights, and in cruise mode the temps dropped to around 5* above ambient, and quickly.

So, once the vehicle is rolling, the air from the road, etc, seems to make it's way to the air intake and eliminate the under hood high iat's. I would concentrate more on volume of air to the TB. 3" is too restrictive. Just my $0.02.

i don't think centri create as much heat as a positive displacement would like a root/ or twin.

the JLP or the Chikenears ram air pieces modded to fit your existing air box

Inlet restrictions are more of an issue with a positive displacement blower than centrifugal too though. I would want an intake the same size as the throttle body at least. 75mm is basically 3" though. I almost think you might need to step the TB size up before you really notice a huge gain from inlet size.

Just for an update, went again to the local 8th mile, now the weather wasnt as good and the DA was high.

last time i was there i ran a

Time slip reads:
R/T------------ 1.214
60'------------- 2.123
330------------ 6.00
1/8------------ 9.2
MPH----------- 74.69

Temps 60's DA 420

Last night the weather was 78 with a DA of 1500
R/T------------ .869
60'------------- 2.146
330------------ 6.052
1/8------------ 9.3
MPH----------- 75.49

Couldnt pull anything faster However, if you correct the time for a lower DA or 0 DA the time come out to 9.1 @ 76mph! (still 7lbs/magnatune)

We will see what it does with a lower DA and lower temps!

them times are good for a stock tune, you need to get a good custom tune.
