Thumbs up New Dyno Baseline on NI Roushcharged Sport

So you guys who think a Non-Intercooled Roushcharger tune is bad?? Check this out.

This was just done over at MAC Autosport in Parker, CO. With 3 super-consistant pulls, the best HP pull was:

Overall Best:

333 RWHP/367RWTQ

This is on a Roush tune (custom by Roush in 2007) and DI/DO custom 3" exhaust, at 6000' DA. Nick the tuner over there was floored. He mentioned that he's typically seeing around 2 pounds of boost lost to altitude on these setups, so at sea level we'd be looking somewhere in the 370-375 RWHP range. They do quite a few of these installs and he also mentioned this was the best he's seen so far. 2WD with 51,000 miles.

Note the RPM cutoff at 5450 RPM.

Well all the canned tunes are bad, you may not think so, but wait till you have a real tune on your truck.

I think that's very good power for a non-intercooled kit with a stock tune. The A/F ratio is right on as well.

What kind of truck do you have? Regular cab, Super cab, or Super crew?

I don't buy it. That's one of the flattest TQ curves I've seen and the crossing point is darned near redline. When Nick over at MAC Autosport said "don't touch it, the tune is perfect", I'll take his word for it. Remember these pulls were done at an elevation of 6000 above sea level.

Thanks. Supercrew, 2wd.

Well give the truck to PHP or Troyer or VMP and I bet they get you more power, Ive never seen a canned tune from Roush, Whipple, or any of them that makes max HP or even pushes the truck to what it can do. AFR and Flat torque curve doesnt make a tune good. Its parts of a good tune, but theres alot more to it.

Not at all taking away from the numbers or anything, but the stock tunes are hardly "perfect"

^^^ I agree. The fuel curve is lean to 5k, hardly perfect.

The pull began at 3.25 rpms a/f was in the 12's all the way to 4.50 rpms, then just dipped into the 11's. Your A/f Should have dipped into the 11's by 3.50-3.7 rpms or so. you are pretty much on the lean side, and i would recommend adding fuel.

With a corrected a/f you make make more power...

Also agree.

If you're happy with the truck as is, that's cool! However, don't mistake your current situation as being optimal just because the S/C has transformed your truck. My stock Ford/Whipple tune made 365 HP, and the dyno tune produced 391 HP. That's a 7% increase, and I'm over a mile altitude here as well. Keep your A/F ratios a bit safer with the S/C, especially at this altitude. If you drive to a lower elevation, you'll be extremely lean.

I hear you. But I bought it brand new with the blower on it, so I'm not sure why the A/F ratio would be unsafe considering it's got 51000 miles on the setup.

Interesting to say the least.

12.0 although safe, is starting to near that ragged edge for a non inter-cooled Roush.

Hell mine is even at 11.5 with 10 degrees of timing up top.

As far as getting 375rwhp at sea level..keep dreaming.

I thought the Roush tune was good to until I got it tuned. I dynoed mine new and was impressed with the numbers and A/F, thought there was nothing more that could be done.

I plan on going back to the dyno running a 2.8" pulley rather than the stock 3.1". But I was running the 2.93" pulley when I went from the Roush to the Troyer and WOW what a difference, completely different truck. Shift MUCH better, more get up off the line, sounds better.........I am just really happy.

I was a doubter also when I first got mine, but believe me, there is more to be had out of that set-up.
