Problems with High RPM

Ok here is what I am dealing with and need some help.
I am running a roush I/C charger and I had the tuned last week but had a few problems. I am seeing the same problem on the street too.

Ok here is what is happening, When the truck was dyno it had probelms in 3rd gear and getting the truck to run over 4000rpm at WOT. It produced 300hp at the rear wheels at that RPM but it was like it hit a brick wall. And if I am running it down the road and roll in the gas it also gains speed but has trouble making 4000 in 3rd. As for the other gears it runs up to the 5000 mark pretty quick without any problems.

What could be the problem?

Stock fuel system but he said I had plenty
Not sure
My tuner was puzzled

I didn't get a print of the run but wish I had. I go back Tuesday again for some more adjustments.

Willing to bet its a limiter not set properly. There are about a dozen or so, including drive shaft speed. Hard to know unless I could see the tune file. Really surprised at your tuner, this is pretty easy stuff if they know F150s.

I know this will sound funny but i don't run my truck hard so i don't know if the roush tune did the same thing or not. But I go back Tuesday to put the roush tune back in to find out if it does it with the tune. Not really sure why I went with the supercharger because I baby the truck but I like knowing it is there if I need it.

Maybe but we could not find it. If you let the truck go into OD it goes pass 100 without any problems.

It hits the wall around 4000rpm and 80mph in 3rd gear but back off on the throtle and let OD shift in and it keeps climbing pass 100. But at that point I back off the gas.

I am running 35' with a 6 inch lift so 100mph if fast enough. Also I have regeared it to 4.56 to offset the tire size.

Not sure how many people know about the roush tune but they are hard to get out of the PMC. So he got the program out and then had to have it converted so I am wondering if something went wrong with the conversion. So that is the reason we are putting it back in to test it.

You really should not let that truck go in OD on boost at WOT!!! The chances of you popping the motor will be greatly increased. Hell some tuners want even allow these trucks to shift in to OD under WOT. And if its not running right with the tune you definitely do not want to run it hard.

On another note...If you "baby this truck" and you're not really sure why you went with a supercharger then why not put the truck back on the Roush tune and leave it at that. At least it will be safe. No point in custom tuning unless you are wanting every hp you can get, right? Also be very careful about who you let tune it. Plenty of tuners out there that think & claim they can tune anything because they tune Mustangs and quite frankly they are idiots and dangerous.

I had spark knock on the roush tune that was the only reason I got it tuned. Who do you use in NC? I may need his number.

Oh well that makes sense then. I have tried National Speed and Fastlane. Niether of them could produce a proper tune. I finally just took it to Troyer in Va. Where are you located?
