Angry HELP ME!!!

Ok i need some major help. my f-150 is 2001 extended cab, flairside. it's a beautiful truck and i love it a lot, but the sides look a little "dinky" since it's the flairside. i am HIGHLY considering putting a 3" Body Lift on it with 35" tires. I know this modification could cost up to $1,000 but I want my truck to look as mean as my friends' Chevys and Dodges! i just got the truck in December, so i know this could effect some of my warranty. if i could please get some feedback on how good my truck would look with a body lift and big tires! also any other suggestions on how to make it look mean, let me know! thanks!!!

Is your truck a 4x4? If it is then a 3" body lift will let you fit some 35" tires. You would have to get new rims to go with the tires. Either an 8 or 10" rim will work. The 8" rims will make the tires balloon out a little bit. The stock rims won't work because they're 7" rims and are too narrow ir you want to run the 35" tires. There are alot of people here on the boards with 3" body lifts and 35" tires. Preformance accessories is a good lift. JcWhitney has them for sale for about $120. Keep in mind that when you go to the larger tires that you will have less power unless you regear the truck. The minimum gear I would go with would be 4.10, but 4.56 gears would be better. Keep in mind that you don't have to regear, but it will give you better pregormance. If you get the lift with new tires and rims then you will be looking at about $1000 depending on where you get it. If you get the tires, rims, gears, and lift it would run you about $1000 to $1500.

hey thanks for your reply.

i think i have made up my mind. i have a 4x4 v8 4.6 liter, so i think i have plenty of power. i think im gonna go with this:

4" Trailmaster Suspension Lift
3" Performance Accessories Body Lift
36"x14.5"x16" Parnelli Jones Dirt Grip Mud Tires
16"x10" Eagle Alloy 589 Wheels

Do you think that would work good on my truck?

Here is a small pic of my truck: http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?...182&Sequence=0

Wow, it would be like looking in a mirror! Except I just change from the 589 wheels to the Welds.
You will be way past that $1000 you talked about. Just the tires will cost that. You are going to be upwards of over $3000 if you do the installs yourself(suspension & body lift), also don't forget about changing your gears. With tires that big and heavy, it is going to be a must. But in my opinion, all of it is well worth it!

Good Luck,
Scott

Cool

I agree...gears, gears, gears. I have the 4.6 and 3.55LS and I thought it would be enough. I finally gave in and put 4.56's in. With 35" tires, you really need to change gears. That doesn't mean it absolutely won't work (I drove mine with the 3.55's for 3 months), but you'll see what I mean when you get the big tires. On all the gear you mentioned, depending on where you go, you'll be looking at 4000 bucks including install and about 3000 if you install it all yourself.

Question

Hey Squanto....
How do those tires ride and wear? And do you know anything about the Super Swamper TSL Thornbirds? Ive been considering them.

Thanks
