RTHuckster,

When I initially dropped my truck 3/5, I had to get 6° shims to fix the vibrating at various speeds. My truck is now 5/7 and I still have the same shims. You should ask the company that you got the kit from as to which (if any) shim you may need. If you are worried about the vibrating issue you can always get a set of shims just in case.

    Cool

ok, thx Mike, i'll check with either Bell Tech or Ground Force, haven't decided which kit i'm goin with yet, only about $50 difference between the 2 but the bell tech is 3/4" while the Ground Force is a 2/4". I've also dropped a size in tires so i gotta add 1" more to whatever drop i put in. I think the 3/4" drop with the 1" extra for the tires putting it @ 4/5" will be fine for my truck...i don't wanna slam it to far...i still pull a fairly decent size trailer.
Hope to see you soon, maybe the ralley i believe in August...i believe the 1 they met @ your house last year for breakfast.....?

Thank you MechE! Finally someone is talking some sense here.

You are correct about the tolerances between vehicles. I have spoken with a well respected mechanic from Ford (fellow hot rod friend from years past), he said he has had to shim "new trucks from the factory" after the dealer installed towing package.

I'm happy to report that I have since reinstalled the 2" lowering shackles with a set of 2 degree shims and there is no driveline vibration now.

If I knew how to post pictures, I'd show you a picture of the shackles under the truck installed, as well as the truck with Lightning rims, 285/60x18 Michelins. Truck looks awesome.

Some sense? He's got 7" drop. Of course you need shims for that much drop! Geesh.

You know, some people try to be as helpful as they can by providing information on this thread to the people who ask for it. Yet things always turn out to be either a P1ss1ng contest OR somebody has to reply with a worthless sarcastis remark.

Guess it makes for interesting conversation.

Most companies you find in magazines that sell lowering kits also sell shims, some lift kit companies sell them too.
