I put Bilsteins on mine all the way around. Also have a 2" rear drop. Std length shocks have been fine so far, even loaded a couple of times very heavy. (700# landscaping stone, 700# sand and 500# misc plus 1 passenger.

Other brands mentioned a lot here are Ranchos(4wd) and Edelbrock.

I have heard that the trailmaster SSV shocks are the best out there to buy. Don't have any personal experience with them though. I have Bilstein coilovers on my Cobra and like them.

I have had the following shocks on either of the 2 F-150's I have had, maybe this will help, listed in order of price from lowest to highest:

1. Rancho RS5000 - (Good economical shock, on the medium side of firm.)

2. Trailmaster SSV - (Better than the Rancho's, on the medium side of firm, but started rusting all over after 6 months.)

3. Bilstein - (Top of the line monotube gas pressure shocks. BUT!, I had 2 go bad in the first 6 months, one right out of the box, another the first time I drove off road.)

4. Pro Comp MX-6 Shocks - (Excellent all around heavy duty shock, will go from soft to very stiff, 6-way externally adjustable shock.)

Thumbs up

I've had RS5000 Rancho's for a few months now, and I've been enjoying the ride. I also added a 2wd steering stablizer, and it helped quite a bit.,,,,98

It's very likely the work your having done won't stop the bouncing, but any of the shocks listed above should tame it down. I have not seen anyone say they put one of these brands of shocks on and not get an improved ride out of it.

A buddy of mine had the TrailMaster shocks on his Chevy truck and I had a TrailMaster steering stabilizer on my old F-350. We both put them in the circular file way before they were supposed to be (i.e. within a year). He went with Bilsteins and his truck still rides really well three years later. I had Edelbrocks on the 350 and loved them. Also, I replaced the TrailMaster steering stabilizer with a Rancho one and was impressed for about two or three months max.
