Ball Joint Replacement

My shop says the ball joints on my 96 F150 2 wheel drive need replacement. The truck has 102,000 on it, so I don't doubt that they're BSing me on that, however they say it is a 7 hour job which I find hard to believe. They say that a service bullitin came out fairly recently about this, and that you have drop most of the suspension out of the truck to replace them. Anybody know if this is true? Also, after the ball joints are replaced, should I have it aligned again?

My driver side ball joint is supposedly bad. I have a 94 w/79k miles. I was quoted about $500 for the repairs.. (both sides)

And yes, have it re-aligned..
