Question What SHOCKS do you have?

since i was asking about LIFTS i fiugure i might as well get into SHOCKS too.

I replaced my OEM shocks with some kind of MONROE from BIG-O

was I or what??? lol

any way they suck ***. I get a bit of roll in higher speed turns, and still get that body "butt shake" going over drains and stuff.

so what shocks really RULE?

rancho 9000s?

Edelbrock IAS Shocks?

others?

thanks

dave

These bad boys ROCK!!. Believe it or not, worth the money. They live up to the Edelbrock name. Oh yea, be prepared though. Shocks is one of those subjects that if you get twenty replies, you will have thirty recommendations. Everyone has there favorite and I don't think any of them are bad, except for maybe Explorer Pro Comp (just there shocks). I had those and they sucked. Bilsteins are totally awesome too but Edelbrock would be my favorite (having these and the Performer IAS's) Never heard a bad think ever about Bilsteins and they would be my next choice if Edelbrock did not have a shock for my application.

Got Bilsteins, really like em a lot. Had Rancho's on the my last truck, too stiff and lacked control compared to the Bilsteins, IMO. 2000 4x4 stock height no lift, never will have.

I got RS9000s on my 2000 2X4. I loved the ability to adjust for loads. They were certainly overbuilt.

I just changed my original 6yr-old shocks for Gabriel Pro Ryder truck shocks.

I asked for Ranchos, but they talked me out of them, saying that Ranchos are a waste of money.

These Gabriels are WORSE than the original shocks. I went back and asked if I could get the originals back, but they were already deep in the dumpster.

Guess I wasted my $$ there.

I actually had no problems with the originals. What was I thinking?

I put Doetsch-Tech 3000's on my 97 F150 4x4 a few months ago. The off road shop place I bought them from said they were comparable to Rancho 5000's. I had the Rancho 5000's on a 94 4x4 and felt like they were way too stiff. The DT's provide a smooth & great ride around town but I think they are a bit too bouncy in some off-road conditions. On soft dirt roads and washes you feel like you are almost floating (it's kinda cool), but on nasty warshboards and rocky trails I feel like the shocks aren't tough enough.

I have the Procomp MX-6 adjustable shocks on my 2000 4x4, as far as I am concerned they are the some of the best shocks made. I have also had Rancho 5000s, KYB Gas-a-Just's, Trailmaster SSV's and Bilstein's but the Procomp's really RULE.

I liked the Rancho RS9000 on my last F-150, but will probably try the Edlebrock IAS this time.

On my 2003 Screw, 4x4, I am running the Pro Comp MX6 adjustables. They are an excellent choice for highway driving, towing or off roading because they are easily adjustable and heavy duty.
If you look around you can find them for a "buy 3 get the fourth one free" deal. Easily as good as (or better than) Rancho 9000's and others.

I have used Bilstiens, Rancho, Monroe, Koni and many other brands of shocks, on different vehicles. They all have shocks that will out perform stock ford stuff.

My 2 cents,
Lonster

Well, call me crazy, but I have had great luck over the years with Monroe gas-magnums. They are a little stiff, about like a Rancho 5000. They last good and are well worth the money. We used to run these on all our farm trucks and they always held up good. I have a set on my truck now and have no complaints. $100, or so for a set of shocks isn't bad in my book.

Later, Rich

Have Trailmaster SSVs Heck of a lot better than stock in my opinion, if I had the cash I would have liked to get the Bilsteins or the Edlebrock IASs.
