Sitting ****-eyed...

It seems that my truck is leaning to the left. What could this be from?

Thanks for your help.

May be out of alignment or the torsion bars may have settled a little bit. Crank the bar up on that side to make it sit level, or lower the bar on the opposite side. Torsion bars are just a spring, springs settle over time.

Seems to be a common problem. Basically the springs are too soft, you have 25 gallons of gas on the driver's side, and you sit on the driver's side. Do a search and you will end up with a number of posts on the subject.

Originally I tried a set of Hellwigs but had to crank the driver's side to the max and still wasn't right. Next I went to a good spring shop. The shop guys said the Hellwigs are a waste of money. They've seen damaged truck springs result from going over a bump when loaded.

I had the shop add an extra leaf (4th) to each side with the driver's side having more arch. It was still a little low so I had a 3/8inch spacer added to the driver's side. Was about 3/4-1 inch difference before measured from the ground to the fender at the center of the wheel; now 1/4 inch difference. Only cost me about $110 and gained another 500 lbs capacity.

As for the 1/4 inch, I've measured several points on the truck and have determined it's an imperfectionwith the truck bed. There is slightly less space between the driver's side lower edge of the tailgate and the bumper than there is on the passenger's side. It's only about 1/8 inch difference but that probably translates to a 1/4 inch out at the fender.

My advice is to go directly to a good spring shop. I wish I had done that first. Also wish I had gone for even a 5th spring on each side.
